Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the The Africa Centre for Hospitality, Aviation, and Tourism (AFCHAT) (KNUST), through its Department of Hospitality and Tourism Studies at KNUST School of Business (KSB), have announced a strategic partnership to enhance hospitality education, industry engagement, and infrastructure development in Ghana.
The agreement seeks to provide practical training, career guidance, and placement support for KNUST students, while positioning the university as a regional leader in hospitality education and innovation.
Under the partnership, modern hospitality facilities, including a teaching hotel, a culinary centre, and an event space, will be developed on the KNUST campus.
These facilities will serve as experiential learning hubs and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.
Short professional certification courses will also be introduced to enrich student training and skills development.
Professor Foster Frempong, Head of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Studies at KNUST, described the collaboration as a strategic move to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
“This partnership is about preparing our students for real careers, not just classrooms. We are aligning our academic vision with industry needs,” he said.
Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer of AFCHAT, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to advancing leadership and capacity building within Africa’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
“This partnership is a practical step toward building capacity and creating pathways for leadership in hospitality across the continent,” he noted.
